A horrific road accident has occurred in Chitradurga, Karnataka. A lorry collided with a private bus on NH-48. Following the collision, the bus caught fire. Twelve passengers were burned alive in the accident, while 20 others were injured. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Hiriyur and Chitradurga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences over the incident. He has announced compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. How did the accident happen? The private bus was traveling from Bengaluru to Shivamogga. It is reported that the driver of a lorry, which was going from Hiriyur to Bengaluru, negligently crossed the divider. At the same time, it collided with the sleeper bus traveling from Bengaluru to Shivamogga. The fire spread so rapidly that many passengers were trapped inside the bus. The bus belonged to a private service called Sea Bird. There were a total of 32 passengers on board at the time of the incident. It is being described as a case of negligence. Immediately after the collision, a fierce fire erupted in the bus, killing 12 people. The bus was completely gutted in the fire. Immediately after the fire broke out, several injured passengers with severe burn injuries were taken to nearby hospitals, and their condition is reported to be critical. A video of the aftermath of the accident has surfaced, showing local people near the bus while it was engulfed in flames. What did the bus conductor say? The driver of the private bus is injured and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The bus conductor, Mohammed Salim, sustained minor injuries. He said, "I was sleeping at the time when I suddenly heard a sound and the window glass shattered. I fell out of the bus. That's all I remember; I don't know what happened after that. Some people took me to the hospital. I have injuries on my hands and legs."
