166 Tigers Died in a Year
The death of 166 tigers in the country in 2025 is a cause for concern. 55 deaths were reported in Madhya Pradesh, known as the 'Tiger State', 38 in Maharashtra, 13 in Kerala, and 12 in Assam. According to the Tiger Conservation Authority, 40 more deaths were recorded compared to 2024. "The tiger population has reached saturation point. They are facing difficulties in establishing territories. In this process, they are fighting among themselves and dying," said wildlife expert Jairam Shukla.
