282 villages could be submerged if sea levels rise
Andhra Pradesh: AP is one of the areas in the country that faces extreme weather conditions like cyclones and floods. Due to these, there is a lot of loss of life and property every year. Officials have recently estimated that 282 coastal villages in AP may be submerged in the coming years due to the rise in sea level. It is said that 10 lakh people may have to be evacuated. The GOVT, which has already identified that 32% of the coastline is being eroded, is taking steps to combat this.
