Free travel on this train... Did you know?
In Punjab, you can travel for free on a train with wooden coaches that runs on a 13 km route from Nangal to Bhakra in Himachal Pradesh. This line was built in 1948 to transport workers and machinery during the construction of the Bhakra Nangal dam. Even though the project was completed in 1963, the train continues to run as a heritage service. It stops at 6 stations and travels through 3 tunnels. The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is responsible for its maintenance.
