IMD issues yellow alert for Bengaluru and Karnataka
Bengaluru: India's Silicon Valley is in dire straits due to heavy rains. Here in Bengaluru, it rained heavily overnight on Thursday. Many low-lying areas of the city are inundated due to heavy rains. There was traffic jam on many major roads. The rain started late on Thursday night and continued intermittently on Friday morning. According to the information, 65.5 mm of rain has been recorded in Bengaluru city in the last 24 hours. Doddaballapura recorded 60 mm, Chandurayanhalli in Ramnagar 46 mm and Hesarghatta in Bengaluru Rural 43 mm.
Yellow alert issued
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru due to heavy rains. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected here and strong winds of 30-40 km per hour are expected at some places. Apart from Bengaluru, yellow alert has also been issued in Vijayapura, Bidar, Kalburgi, Tumkuru, Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts of Karnataka.
Alert for entire Karnataka
Heavy rains are being recorded across Karnataka these days. According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Kanagamkalapalli in Chikballapur district received 130 mm of rain, Tirumani 114 mm, Beechaganahalli 114 mm, Chellur 101 mm and Bhandarkumtha in Bidar district 112 mm. Apart from this, Gadag recorded 51.9 mm, Chandurayanhalli in Ramnagar 46 mm, Tamaka in Kolar 21.5 mm and Mangaluru 20.7 mm.
IMD has issued a warning
The IMD has warned that heavy rains may cause temporary power outages, waterlogging and uprooting of weak tree branches. IMD said in its advisory, “Take shelter in a safe place and do not stand under trees. Switch off electrical and electronic devices immediately. Get out of water bodies and stay away from electrical objects. अगर आप याटार है है है तो अच्चित्र से वहान.''Due to incessant rains, new potholes have formed, causing inconvenience to passengers, especially two-wheeler drivers.
