Increasing the Number of IPL Matches Will Be Difficult: Arun Dhumal
Chairman Arun Dhumal made key remarks regarding the demands to increase the number of IPL matches. He stated that the decision to increase the match count to 84 or 94 would depend on the international cricket schedule. It was noted that increasing the number of matches within the current window (March–May) would result in a higher frequency of "double-headers"—a format that broadcasters are not particularly fond of. However, it was suggested that given the declining demand for bilateral series, the number of such series could be reduced to make room for an increased number of IPL matches.
