Road Safety Cess on New Vehicles: Ponnam
Telangana: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar made key remarks in the Legislative Council regarding the road safety cess. He said, "We have decided to impose a road safety cess to strengthen the enforcement wing of the transport department. This will apply to newly registered vehicles. We will levy a cess of Rs. 2,000 for two-wheelers, Rs. 5,000 for cars and similar vehicles, and Rs. 10,000 for heavy vehicles." In Andhra Pradesh, this has been fixed at 10% and the cabinet has already approved it.
