Satish Dhawan Center buzzes with activity, ISRO's mega mission ready
Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh): The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said the 24-hour countdown for the launch of the over 4,000-kg communication satellite CMS-03 began on Saturday. The space agency said the satellite, weighing around 4,410 kg, will be the heaviest satellite ever launched into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) from Indian soil. The spacecraft will be launched aboard the LVM3-M5 rocket, nicknamed 'Bahubali' for its heavy lift capability.
ISRO said on Saturday that the launch vehicle has been fully assembled and integrated with the spacecraft and it has been moved to the second launch pad here for pre-launch operations. Later, in a social media post, ISRO said, "Countdown begins!!" The final preparations have been completed and the countdown for the LVM3-M5 (mission) has officially begun at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
"As we move closer to the launch, all systems are ready," the space agency said. ISRO said that LVM3 (Launch Vehicle Mark-3) is ISRO's new launch vehicle and is used to place 4,000 kg spacecraft into GTO.
