Suspense surrounds Cameron Green's entry; a big statement made before the auction.
The IPL 2026 mini-auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16th. A total of 359 players have been shortlisted, of which only 77 can be bought by all the teams combined, and 40 players have set their base price at ₹2 crore. This includes Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi. Interestingly, Australian star all-rounder Cameron Green registered himself in the batsmen category for the auction. He has now commented on this, explaining that his manager accidentally selected the wrong category while filling out the registration form.
Cameron Green explains his manager's mistake
According to an ESPN Cricinfo report, Cameron Green said, "I'm ready to bowl. I don't know if my manager will like hearing this, but he made a mistake. He didn't mean to write 'batsman'. He accidentally ticked the wrong box. The way it all happened is quite interesting, but he's the one who made the mistake."
Green has played for two IPL teams
Cameron Green is known for his powerful batting and excellent bowling and has played in the IPL before. He played for Mumbai Indians in 2023 and for RCB in 2024. However, due to a back injury, he could not play in IPL 2025. Several reports claim that Cameron Green could become the most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction. Chennai Super Kings and KKR are among the teams that might bid for him.
A bidding war could ensue for Green
In IPL 2023, Cameron Green scored 452 runs for Mumbai Indians, including an unbeaten century off 47 balls. He also took 6 wickets. Following this, he was traded from Mumbai to RCB in 2024. There, he scored 255 runs in 13 matches and took 10 wickets. He is a master of T20 cricket, and given his abilities, several teams are likely to engage in a bidding war to acquire him.
