A shock for the BJP: Congress wins the Nagpur Graduate MLC seat.
The Congress party has dealt a blow to the ruling BJP in the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections by winning the Nagpur Graduate constituency seat. The Congress party's victory over the BJP in Nagpur is highly significant; notably, Nagpur is the hometown of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A defeat for the BJP in such a location comes as a major shock to the party. Chief Minister Fadnavis, who had previously tweeted that the Congress had won zero seats in the MLC elections, deleted his tweet following this latest development.
