Bangladesh Election Commission Suspends Sheikh Hasinas Voting Rights
Dhaka: The Election Commission of Bangladesh (EC) has suspended the voting rights of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced this at the Nirvachan Bhavan in Dhaka on Wednesday. Her national identity cards have been locked, Ahmed said, meaning she will not be able to vote in the general elections to be held in February next year. Meanwhile, there are reports that the EC has also locked the NIDs of Hasina's younger sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajib Wazed and daughter Saima Wazed Putulla.
