Direct Tax Collections in 2025-26
**New Delhi:** During the past financial year (2025-26), the Central Government's net direct tax collections registered a growth of 5.12 percent, amounting to over ₹23.40 lakh crore. However, these collections fell short of reaching the revised target set for the previous financial year. For the 2025-26 financial year, the government revised its direct tax collection target from Rs 25.20 lakh crore (actual budget estimate) down to Rs 24.21 lakh crore. However, tax collections did not reach even this revised level.
