El Niño Intensifying
Visakhapatnam: El Niño is exerting a significant impact on the Southwest Monsoon season across the Indian subcontinent. Its influence is weakening low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal and causing the Arabian Sea to remain relatively inactive for extended periods. According to recent reports from various international climate models, sea surface temperatures in the 'Niño 3.4' region of the tropical Pacific Ocean have been recorded at 2.1 degrees Celsius above normal.
