Falling banana prices cause concern among farmers
Andhra Pradesh: Farmers in Annamayya district are worried that the price of a ton of bananas, which was Rs. 15-18 thousand 10 days ago, has now fallen to Rs. 5-7 thousand. Farmers say that they are leaving the ripe crop on the trees because they cannot afford the price and transportation costs. Horticulture department officials say that traders in neighboring states are not coming to buy due to rains and other reasons. Prices are likely to gradually increase due to the festive season.
