Farmers March Towards Delhi!
Ambala: Farmers have marched towards the capital, Delhi, in opposition to the proposed US-India trade agreement. Police intercepted farmers from Punjab at the Shambhu border as they were heading to Delhi for the 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' (Grand Farmers' Assembly) scheduled for Tuesday. Leaders of farmers' unions have expressed concern that the trade deal—which could lead to an influx of dirt-cheap agricultural and dairy products from the US—would devastate the livelihoods of the country's farmers and dairy producers.
