Local Elections to Be Held Using EVMs in Andhra Pradesh
Amaravati: Local body elections in the state will be conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). In this context, as per the instructions of the Central Election Commission, the state Panchayat Raj and Municipal Commissioners met with State Election Commissioner (SEC) Neelam Sawhney on Tuesday. Since elections are to be held in 1.36 lakh wards in the state, one EVM will have to be used for each ward. They discussed the issue of how many EVMs will be required for these elections, which will be held in phases.
