New road safety cess on vehicles: Minister
Andhra Pradesh: GOVT has taken a key decision to prevent road accidents. Minister Ramprasad Reddy announced in the Assembly that a new 10% road safety cess will be imposed on vehicles. ‘This will be collected along with life tax at the time of registration. It will cost ₹270CR per year. We will use this for improving road safety facilities and blackspots,’ he said. The Minister introduced an amendment bill to this effect in the House.
