Only 31 out of 100 have become Smart Cities!
The central government, in response to an RTI query, stated that only 31 out of 100 cities have become smart cities so far. None of these are from the Telugu states. ₹59,385 crore has been spent on these cities over ten years. It stated that work is nearing completion in Visakhapatnam and 43 other cities. It mentioned that Kakinada, Tirupati, and 26 other towns will take time to become smart cities. This project is supposed to be completed by March 2025.
