Penalty for not giving paid holiday on election day: EC
The Central Election Commission has warned employers that they will be fined if they do not provide paid leave to their employees on the day of the elections. It has also indicated that this will apply to segments where by-elections are held and that no one's wages should be cut. It has said that voters in constituencies where elections are held are eligible to get this benefit on the polling day even if they work in other areas. States should issue orders in this regard.
