Afghanistan retaliates after Pakistani attack on TTP bases, tension escalates
Pakistan Taliban Clash: Pakistan carried out airstrikes against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Following the attacks, Afghanistan retaliated. Meanwhile, Pakistan stated that it has reached a 48-hour ceasefire with Afghanistan. This announcement comes at a time when border clashes between the two countries have resulted in numerous casualties on both sides. Pakistan's Foreign Office stated, "At the request of the Taliban, a temporary ceasefire has been reached between the Government of Pakistan and the Taliban regime of Afghanistan for 48 hours with the mutual consent of both sides." However, Chief Spokesperson of the Afghan Government, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that "at the request and insistence of the Pakistani side, the ceasefire between the two countries has come into effect."
Taliban Foreign Minister Issues Warning
In a social media post, Mujahid stated that the government has instructed its armed forces to respect the ceasefire unless there is any provocation. Earlier, Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi had stated that Afghanistan does not seek conflict with any other country. Muttaqi warned Pakistan that if Islamabad does not want peace, Kabul has other options.
