Piles of Footwear at Alipiri
Tirumala: Heaps of footwear are visible near the 'Padala Mandapam' at Alipiri. Devotees traveling to Tirumala—whether on foot via the Alipiri route or by vehicle—are leaving their footwear behind at Alipiri itself. Consequently, the footwear has accumulated, forming large piles. Even though it is possible to send footwear via the luggage service or even walk while wearing them, devotees leave their footwear at the foot of the hill due to sentimental reasons. Consequently, the entire entrance to the Alipiri footpath is cluttered with scattered footwear.
