Rainfall deficit in 17 districts during June
Seventeen districts in the state recorded a rainfall deficit in June compared to normal levels. The State Meteorological Department attributed this to El Niño, the delayed onset of the Southwest monsoon, and the slow movement of the monsoon winds. Hanumakonda district recorded the lowest rainfall in the state for June at just 40 mm, against an average of 142 mm. Districts that recorded a rainfall deficit include Warangal, Siddipet, Medchal, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Gadwal, Yadadri, Mancherial, Jangaon, Jagtial, Sircilla, and Mahabubabad.
