Record purchases with credit cards
A record amount (₹2.17 lakh crore) of purchases were made with credit cards in September. This is 14% more than in August. Market experts believe that the festival season, discounts and offers by banks and e-commerce platforms, as well as a cut in GST rates are the reasons for this. Purchases of ₹2.015 trillion were recorded in March 2025 and ₹1.91T in August. It was ₹1.76 lakh crore in September last year.
