Reservoirs overflowing
Alluri Sitarama Raju District: Due to heavy rains caused by Cyclone Arnab, water levels in the Jolaput and Duduma reservoirs—which supply water to the Machkund Hydroelectric Project—have reached dangerous levels. On Thursday, 24,000 cusecs of water were released from the Jolaput reservoir, and 20,000 cusecs from the Duduma reservoir. The massive release of water from Jolaput has submerged the bridge located on the border of the two states downstream. The maximum capacity level of the Jolaput reservoir is 2,750 feet; as of Thursday, it had reached 2,749 feet.
