Tandur Red Gram Exported to Australia
Hyderabad: Tandur red gram (pigeon peas), which holds a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, has been exported to Australia for the first time. This export was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which operates under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Hyderabad-based firm ‘MS Durga’ is exporting the produce under the brand name ‘Ammas’; the first container, carrying 25,000 quintals of Tandur red gram, departed from Hyderabad on Wednesday.
