New Delhi: The anti-corruption organization Lokpal has decided to purchase seven luxury BMW cars for its seven-member team. The total cost of these cars is estimated to be around ₹5 crore. To achieve this, the Lokpal has issued an open tender, seeking seven BMW 3 Series 330Li (M Sport) models. These cars will be long-wheelbase and white in color. According to BMW's website, the BMW 3 Series long-wheelbase car is considered the most spacious and comfortable car in its segment. This powerful engine has an on-road price of approximately ₹69.5 lakh in Delhi. Special training arrangements for drivers. The Lokpal has also specified in the tender that the company supplying the cars must provide seven days of training for drivers and other staff, to be completed within 15 days of delivery of the vehicles. The training will include both classroom sessions and practical road driving. In this, drivers will be briefed on all the car's controls, safety systems, fuel efficiency, driving modes, emergency handling, and infotainment systems. Each driver will be given the opportunity to practice driving for at least 50 kilometers, and up to 100 kilometers if required. During this time, a logbook will be maintained under the supervision of a trainer, signed by both the trainer and the driver. The training costs, including the trainer's remuneration, travel, accommodation, fuel, materials, and other arrangements, will be borne entirely by the supplier company. The Ombudsman will not incur any additional expenses. Where will the training take place, what are the terms of the tender? The training will take place at the Ombudsman's office in Vasant Kunj Institutional Area, Delhi, or at another location agreed upon by both parties. The deadline for submitting tenders is November 6, 2025, and bids will be opened the following day, i.e., November 7. Companies participating in the tender will be required to deposit an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹10 lakh. The cars must be delivered within 30 days of receiving the supply order, and no delay will be tolerated. The Lokpal currently has a chairman and six members, compared to a sanctioned strength of eight. These new cars are being purchased for these members.
