Violence erupts against social media ban, power vacuum in Nepal"
After the ongoing violent protests in Nepal, PM KP Oli resigned. Now Nepal's President Ram Chandra Paudel has also resigned from his post. The situation is still tense in many cities including Nepal's capital Kathmandu. After the social media was banned, the angry youth started a movement and took to the streets. So far 20 people have been reported dead in this protest. On Monday, PM Oli had said that if he has to resign from the post, he will do so but will not lift the ban on social media. After this, the ban was lifted in view of the anger of the protesters.

In view of the tense situation, Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned from his post. His resignation was accepted by President Ramchandra Paudel. But after this President Paudel has also resigned from his post. However, even after the resignation of the Prime Minister and the President, the protesters are not calming down.
What did PM Oli write in his resignation
According to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, I was appointed Prime Minister on 31 Ashadh, 2081 B.S. Taking into account the current extraordinary situation in the country, and in accordance with the Constitution, in order to find a political way out and take further initiatives to resolve the situation, according to Article 77 (1) of the Constitution, I tender my resignation from the post of Prime Minister, effective from today.

Nepali Army takes command
As protests intensified across the country, the Nepal Army used helicopters to evacuate ministers from their residences in Bhaispati. The move comes after incidents of arson and vandalism at the homes of ministers and senior officials, including a minister's residence in Bhaispati being set on fire.
