What are Mahalaya Pakshas?
The 15 days from the beginning of the Krishna Paksha to the new moon in the month of Bhadrapada are called Mahalaya Paksha. They began today. Scholars say that these days are related to the ancestral gods and are auspicious for performing ancestral deeds. It is said that the tarpanas we offer to the elders who have passed away in our house give special results. It is a long-standing belief that if these deeds are done during these 15 days, there will be no shortage of anything in the house.
