According to Yoga Shastra, there are two nadis (energy channels) in our body called Ida and Pingala. The Pingala nadi symbolizes the solar energy. When these nadis are purified through Pranayama, the Kundalini energy awakens. While the sun provides light to the external world, through yoga practice, the inner self (Chidatma) within us shines. The practice performed on Ratha Saptami awakens this inner energy within us. That is why scholars suggest practicing yoga for at least a short time on this auspicious day.
