A 4,000-km-long cloud band stretching from India to China
This is a satellite image of a cloud band extending 4,000 kilometers—spanning several states in the Indian subcontinent and passing through Bangladesh and Myanmar all the way to China. It appeared in the latest satellite images released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) just as a severe depression formed in the Bay of Bengal was making landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast. Weather experts explained that this cloud band formed due to a massive influx of moisture resulting from atmospheric changes in the Bay of Bengal, occurring as the Southwest Monsoon was entering its withdrawal phase.
