An American tourist successfully resolved a language barrier encountered during a trip to Japan with the help of AI. Michael Galpert woke up at 4:00 AM feeling stifled by the heat in his hotel room. When he reached for the remote control to adjust the air conditioner, he discovered that the interface was entirely in Japanese. Unable to understand the text, he turned to a Google AI tool called "Nano Banana" for assistance. He took a photograph of the remote control and requested a version of the image featuring buttons labeled in English. Upon receiving it immediately, he was able to lower the temperature and cool down.
