All India Radio's first Telugu woman news reader
Jolepalyam Mangamma was born on September 12, 1925 in Madanapalle. She passed the All India Radio exams and worked as the first Telugu woman news reader and editor of the radio in 1960. She has held key positions in the Central Information and External Affairs Departments, as well as received many awards for research and book writing. She was awarded the title of Andhra Nightingale. She is proficient in Telugu, English, French, Esperanto, Tamil and Hindi languages and has experience in teaching.
