Assembly Resolution to Ban Weedicide
Telangana: Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao introduced a resolution in the State Assembly seeking to ban the use of Paraquat Dichloride (a weedicide) across the state. It was pointed out that this deadly chemical, currently being used by farmers for agriculture, has already been banned in many countries. It was noted that numerous farmers have lost their lives due to this pesticide. The House unanimously passed a resolution urging the Central Government to immediately impose a ban on the manufacture, usage, transportation, and import of this chemical.
