Battery Storage Mandatory for Solar and Wind Power Plants
Hyderabad: Solar and wind power plants will no longer be limited solely to electricity generation. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has clarified that it is mandatory to install Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to store a portion of the generated electricity. To this effect, a draft regarding the second amendment to technical standards for the construction of power plants and lines—specifically the regulations for solar and wind power plants (2026)—has been released.
