Conflict in the Middle East intensifies; crisis looms over global trade.
The ongoing conflict between Iran and the US is now spreading to other parts of the Middle East. Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport. Houthi leaders stated that this action was in retaliation for airstrikes on Sana'a International Airport, for which they held Saudi Arabia responsible. Expressing concern over these developments, the UN Security Council has appealed to all parties to seek a resolution through dialogue.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has announced plans to reimpose a blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and to levy fees on ships from other nations using these secure maritime routes. Opposing this decision, Iran asserted that the security and operation of the Strait of Hormuz fall within its sovereign rights. Recent days have seen an escalation in maritime attacks and retaliatory military actions between the two nations. This tension has also impacted the international oil market, leading to a surge in crude oil prices.
Concurrently, the US has released new figures regarding military casualties in the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to the US military, 14 soldiers have died so far, while over 400 have been injured. The persistent attacks, retaliatory strikes, and rising tensions in the region have heightened the risk of instability across West Asia. Experts believe that without a swift diplomatic solution, the consequences for global trade, energy supplies, and regional security could become increasingly severe. Stay tuned for all major updates on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East:
