Controversy Over ₹952 Crore GST Demand; Questions Raised About AP Tax Officials
Allegations surfaced regarding a ferro-alloy company in the North Andhra region engaging in irregularities by failing to properly pay taxes on foreign exports. Information regarding this matter was received by the State Commercial Taxes Department from the Principal Commissioner of Central Tax in 2022. A separate report was also received from the Enforcement Wing of the Chief Commissioner's office in Vijayawada. Upon identifying large-scale irregularities, a demand notice totaling ₹952.17 crore was issued on July 18, 2022, exercising statutory authority.
