Guidelines Needed to Prevent Cyber Fraud
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court directed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to formulate standard procedures to curb cyber fraud. The Court instructed the RBI to prepare and disseminate a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlining how to handle bank accounts and "mule accounts" linked to cyber fraud. Hearing the matter *suo motu* regarding incidents of "digital arrests" orchestrated using forged documents, the Bench issued several directives to the RBI as well as the Central and State governments.
