If it is consensual, it cannot be called rape: Karnataka High Court
The Karnataka High Court has clarified that if a person is in a consensual relationship for a few years and then refuses to get married, it cannot be considered rape. “As per the law, ‘heartbreak’ is not a crime,” the court commented. Moreover, it dismissed the case against the accused, saying that if a physical relationship is established abroad, it does not fall under the category of cheating. The court ruled that a consensual relationship cannot be converted into rape just because it is not married.
