Paternity Leave Must Be Granted: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has expressed the view that a law should be enacted to ensure paternity leave is applicable to all employees across the country. These remarks were made during a hearing regarding maternity leave entitlements in cases of adoption. The Court noted that a father's role is crucial for a child's physical and mental development, and that newborns are in dire need of their father's voice and touch. It further stated that raising children is not a task for any single individual, and the responsibility should be shared equally. Currently, this provision is already in effect for government employees and certain private sector employees.
