‘Jafarabadi’ buffaloes that produce high milk
The Jafarabadi breed of buffaloes is native to Gujarat. Their horns are curved. The udder is wide. They are black in color and weigh about 460KG. They first mature at 36-40 months. They give birth to their first calf at the age of 48-51 months. They produce 2,336 liters of milk during the milking season at the rate of 15-18 liters per day. The butter content is up to 9-10%. The price of each buffalo ranges from Rs.80K-Rs.1 lakh.
