Joy Among Farmers as Chili Prices Soar
Andhra Pradesh: Current market prices are bringing much-needed relief to chili farmers who have been facing losses for several years due to pests and a lack of remunerative prices. The prices for the 'Teja,' 'Armoor,' and 'Classic' varieties have doubled. While prices remained below ₹10,000 per quintal last year, they have now surged to an average of ₹20,000. Farmers are overjoyed, as even the price for lower-grade produce (talu) is now fetching between ₹10,000 and ₹13,000. Experts attribute this surge to a nationwide decline in chili cultivation combined with strong international demand.
