Allied nations—along with China—have flatly refused US President Trump's call for cooperation in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. NATO members Britain, Germany, France, and Spain—as well as Japan—have categorically stated that they wish to have no involvement in this conflict. They made it clear that they would not be deploying warships to the region. China, for its part, suggested that the attacks must cease first. It is worth noting that Trump had previously warned that NATO would have no future if its members failed to cooperate with the US.
