Minors' passports valid until age 18
Passports issued to children under the age of 15 will now remain valid until they turn 18. Amendments to this effect, made by the Ministry of External Affairs, have been published in the Gazette. Joint Secretary and Chief Passport Officer B.S. Mubarak stated that the new regulations came into effect on September 15, the day they were published. A standard 36-page passport issued to children aged 15 is valid only for five years from the date of issue or until the child turns 18, whichever is earlier.
