Murderers Will Not Inherit Assets!
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has categorically ruled that any claims to property—whether acquired through murder or by purchasing land under *benami* (proxy) names—are invalid in the eyes of the law. The Court dismissed a petition filed by a man named D.A. Srinivas, who had murdered an individual named K. Raghunath and subsequently attempted to acquire his assets through a will. According to Section 25 of the Hindu Succession Act, it has been established that any individual who murders another person—or abets such a murder—holds no right whatsoever to the property of the deceased.
