Supreme Court Guidelines for Speedy Disposal of Bail Petitions
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued several suggestions and directives to ensure the speedy disposal of bail petitions in High Courts. A bench led by Justice Surya Kant expressed concern over the recurring delays in the listing and hearing of bail petitions, as well as the massive backlog of cases. On Monday, the Supreme Court conducted a hearing on the case of *Sunny Chauhan vs. State of Haryana*. Prior to the hearing, the bench had sought and obtained details regarding pending bail applications from all High Courts across the country.
