Amaravati: Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr. Vishnuvardhan has ordered that postgraduate (PG) medical students should not be made to work shifts exceeding 24 consecutive hours. Orders regarding this were issued on Friday to the principals of medical colleges and superintendents of teaching hospitals. He emphasized the strict implementation of existing regulations concerning duties, duty rosters, and leave for PG students in government medical colleges and teaching hospitals. He further directed that PG students should not be assigned duties exceeding 74 hours per week.
