Petition Seeks Cancellation of SC Caste Certificates for Pastors
Amaravati: On Tuesday, the High Court conducted a hearing on a petition seeking directions to officials to cancel the Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates of pastors who practice Christianity. The Court issued notices to the senior officials and the District Collectors of West Godavari and Eluru—who are named as respondents in the litigation—directing them to file a counter-affidavit regarding this matter. The hearing was adjourned to July 6. High Court Judge Justice N. Vijay issued orders to this effect on Tuesday.
