New Delhi: The Central Government is focusing on regulating the prices of medical devices—such as IV sets and syringes used in patient care—due to the vast disparity between their production costs and retail prices. It is preparing to hold discussions on this matter with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing companies, as well as hospital managements. A recent survey conducted by the FDA in Maharashtra revealed that hospitals were charging hundreds of times the actual price for injections and saline.
