Recommendation: e-KYC for Instagram Too
A Parliamentary Committee has recommended to the Union Ministries of Home Affairs and IT that e-KYC be made mandatory for Instagram users across the country. The committee suggested implementing this measure to curb fraud and harassment perpetrated through fake profiles on social media platforms. It expressed the view that such a move would make digital spaces safer for women and minors. However, it remains to be seen what decision the Central Government will take regarding this matter.
