Rs 200 Crore Compensation for Veligonda Project Displaced Persons Today
Compensation totaling Rs 200 crore is set to be distributed to 1,600 people displaced by the Veligonda project. Chief Minister Chandrababu will hand over the cheques to them on Wednesday at the Assembly premises. A total of Rs 900 crore is due to the displaced persons under relief and rehabilitation measures. The coalition government has already paid Rs 300 crore in one tranche; of the remaining Rs 600 crore, Rs 200 crore is being paid to some of them on Wednesday. The Chief Minister has promised the displaced persons that the entire compensation amount will be paid to everyone before the project's inauguration.
